About spandex fabric
Spandex fabric is one kind of elastic fibers, the common fabric names are Lycra fabric in United States, United Kingdom, Holland, Canada and Brazil, Neolon fabric
in Japn, and Dorlastan in Germany. Spandex fabric are widely used in chemical, textile and apparel industries.
Spandex fabric is also known as lycra fabric, one synthetic fiber features in high tensile strength and breaking elongation (above 400%, or 500%～700% ), low modulus
(200% elongation，0.04～0.12 grams per denier), and excellent elastic recovery(200% elongation，95%～99%). In China, it’s the commodity name of segmented polyurethane
fiber, also known as elastic fiber.
Elastic fiber performs better in chemical degradation and strength compared with rubber thread, and has medium heat stability, softening temperature above 200℃.
For most dyes and finishing agents applied for synthetic fiber and natural fiber are also suitable for the dyeing and finishing of spandex fabric.
Advantages of spandex fabric:
1. Large elongation, good shape, no wrinkling
2. Soft hand feeling, best elastic, comfortable wearing, and perfect fit
3. Acid and alkaline resistant, anti-wearing, anti-aging
Spandex fabric is resistant to perspiration, sea water, and also resistant to kinds of dry cleaner and most of suntan lotion.
4. Good dye ability, and resists fading.
Disadvantages of spandex fabric:
1. Bad in hygroscopic effect;
2. Spandex is seldom used alone, normally blending with other fabrics;
3. Not perfect in heat-resistance
Spandex Fabric Cleaning
1. Good properties in acid and alkaline resistance, thus all kinds of detergents can be used, both available for hand wash and washing machine. Detergents with
beaching factor is not allowed in case of fading.
2. Washing temperature is better 40℃～50℃.
3. Light and white colors fabric, before washing, one to two hours soaking is better. Deep color not suggested to soak long time before washing and better put some
salt in case of fading.
4. Better to be placed in the shade to dry and avoid exposing to the sun.
